What this notice covers
This notice covers expedition enquiries and invitation-only accounts on the Narua website. Enquiries are requests for an individual quotation or information; submitting a form does not make a paid booking.
Data and purpose
The enquiry form stores your name, email, optional phone, programme/departure choice, guest count, message and consent timestamp. We use this information to answer you and discuss your programme. Account records contain your email, name, role and password hash; session and invitation tokens are stored as hashes. We use these records to manage access and show participants only their linked enquiries and preparation materials. Do not submit passport, health or payment-card details.
Storage and recipients
Website records are stored on a restricted-access server in Tokyo, Japan. Enquiries are sent through the Telegram Bot API to the operator’s private notification group. Telegram processes a copy under its own service terms; members of that group can read it. Administrators can view enquiries; marketers see aggregate counts; editors work with the journal; participants see only linked enquiries. The website does not sell enquiry data or enable advertising analytics.
Retention
Enquiries are retained for up to 24 months from submission, then removed from the website database. Backup copies have a 30-day retention target. The server removes old copies daily; encrypted off-host copies are cleaned on the next scheduled run when the backup device is available. Telegram notification copies are handled by the group administrator and Telegram; contact us to request their removal. Account information is kept while access is needed; contact us to close an account.
Your choices
Submitting an enquiry requires consent to this use and to delivery into the operator’s Telegram group. Contact the privacy contact to ask about your data, request access, correction or deletion, or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from continuing to handle the enquiry.
Cookies and security
The site uses essential account-session cookies and, if applicable, a booking-session cookie. There is no advertising-cookie module. HTTPS protects transmission; access is checked on the server, and off-host backups are encrypted. No system can guarantee protection on a compromised visitor device.
